You are very welcome to visit cheesefarm and clog factory Simonehoeve next to Hotel Volendam, just 15km from Amsterdam, on the right-hand side of the road to Volendam. The family Klomp and their staff are ready to receive you in the traditional Volendam costumes on every day throughout the year. Alone, with a small or a large group, you are always welcome.

To receive tourists a large part of the stable was reconstructed into a cosy hall with enough room for large groups. We enjoy explaining how cheese is made and show you how it is done.

In the wooden shoe factory we explain and show you how we make the clogs on the traditional way by hand and the modern way by machine. After the explanation you can try the shoes on. You can also taste and –if you wish- buy cheese in several varieties. And because cheese and wine belong together there is a glass of delicious Dutch fruit-wine for everyone. You can try real Dutch biscuits as well.

Except cheeses and wooden shoes we also have souvenirs, including hand painted Delft Blue Pottery.

The entrance and the guided tour with demonstrations and tasting of cheeses, wine, and biscuits are all free of charge.

On the first floor we give you the possibility to drink or eat something in our restaurant. For breakfast, lunch and dinner it is necessary to make a reservation. The restaurant is decorated in a Typical Traditional Dutch ambiance.

Besides showing how cheeses and wooden shoes are made you can also experience this yourself. We organise several workshops: cheese making, wooden shoes making, wooden shoes decorating, pimping of wooden shoes, fish (eel) smoking, and decorating objects with ceramic and glass mosaic tiles.

September till March 8 AM till 6 PM

For a visit after 5 PM please contact us first.

If you are travelling with a motorhome, you can park it for free at our parking between 17:00 and 9:30 hrs. There are no facilities. The nearest campsites with facilities are Camping Strandbad Edam and RP Holiday Park Marinapark Volendam.
